Young farmers helping young farmers

Mkulima Young is an initiative by ACLECOPS. It aims at encouraging youth to engage in agricultural issues. Young farmers are plagued with problems affecting their productivity and marketing where middlemen offer meager prices for their produce,  delays with payments and expensive farm inputs.

Mkulima Young is connecting young farmers and those aspiring them with each other in a virtual space

I am working as a teller in Nairobi. After deducting all my expenditure from the salary of 30k, I sometimes save 5k or less. I have tried farming tomatoes and capsicum in Kiambu but my farmboy have been letting me down. I have been incurring losses due to pest and diseases. I have been thinking of quitting my job and concentrate more on farming but am not sure whether I will be able to earn more from it. What is your advice?
